My 1st "contact high" too - what list of 1sts ! Doobies with dueling drummers - REO rocking it - and Frampton's splash was incredible. Saw Bill Grahm drop a "cigar box" (no shit) overflowing with cash while he walked from the ticket booth into the very crowded lobby. Everyone got on their knees and we helped pick it ALL up for him ! So cool - everyone respected him so much.Jeff Bradkeg - Chico Statenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294811369769114458.post-52565283030705084082016-02-26T20:12:52.820-08:002016-02-26T20:12:52.820-08:00I was at this concert we drove clear down from Hum...I was at this concert we drove clear down from Humboldt State in Arcata. Gas was being rationed in California so that was tough. REO speed wagon was great! Frampton was absolutely incredible and played forever, the Dobbie Brothers were really great and didn't come on until after 1:00 a.m. I was tripping on acid and remember lots of people puking in the girls bathroom. I would have to say this ranks up there as on of the best concerts I ever went to!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12799061119811885861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294811369769114458.post-83892972850150071192013-09-02T08:37:35.459-07:002013-09-02T08:37:35.459-07:00I was at that show! Always wondered about that - he went back to England, and after a year or so of doing solo stuff landed right into a British Rock institution that alas, never made it here in the states (outside of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" and "Rocking All Over the World") - Status Quo. Ironic too, that he has been with Quo for almost 35 years now.Alan Rockmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294811369769114458.post-65750729410564775292011-04-08T15:49:52.648-07:002011-04-08T15:49:52.648-07:00I met PF after a concert in 1974, Asbury Park New ...I met PF after a concert in 1974, Asbury Park New Jersey (USA). His car got stuck outside the venue - as he was leaving from his set, playing as the backup band for Poco. Him and I (a n 18 year old guitar fan of his) spent quite a while talking, and yes - he mentioned Django as a main influence to me. I had the pleasure of seeing him again in 2010 - same place. Both of us older - both of us there for the same reasons! They totally fascinated me!<br />But Peter's ingenious use of the melodic minor scale totally turned me in another direction, which has served me well over the years!Michael Whttp://www.facebook.com/TheFusionFanaticnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3294811369769114458.post-65768977117961446802010-04-08T12:54:19.758-07:002010-04-08T12:54:19.758-07:00Firse concert I ever saw - age 16 - went to go see...Firse concert I ever saw - age 16 - went to go see Peter Frampton too rather than the Doobies, though we stayed for the whole thing - read an article where he said he was inspired by Django Reinhardt.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
